NEW York, NY - December 7, 2022 - FanSided, one of the fastest growing platforms of sports and lifestyle digital properties, today announced its Fandoms of the Year list, the 90 fandoms that celebrate the top teams, players, competitions, movies, experiences, actors, music, television shows, games and more of 2022. The overall winner of Fandom of the Year goes to House of the Dragon, the Games of Thrones spin-off that became the biggest series premiere in HBO history with nearly 10 million viewers tuning in.
Since 2017, FanSided’s editorial team has nominated the top fandoms across 14 categories to create a curated list of things that moved, inspired, thrilled and entertained us this year. Within the 90, there are 10 Superlatives that rise to the top. These include:

This year's list showed multiple interesting trends in the realm of fandom. Interest in women's sports increased compared to the year prior, with 10 teams and individual athletes being featured in 37 sports fandoms. Fans also seem to have gravitated towards legacy and/or retired athletes this year including Albert Pujols, Serena Williams, Sue Bird and Sylvia Fowles. Finally, it looks like the covid-era trend of increased TV watching is remaining strong with 28 of this year's top fandoms in the Television category including HBO & Netflix which each had six shows in the mix.
